Obituary for Richard Alan Pollard

Richard Alan Pollard
1946-2019
Richard’s life was cut short by glioblastoma. He leaves behind his heart-broken wife, Sharon, son Adam (Jo-Ann), granddaughter Alexa, his sister Barbara Williams (Rick Dobson), nephew Matthew Williams (Chris), and niece Katie Williams. Richard taught biology, a job he loved, at ODSS for 26 years. He had a wonderful rapport with his students genuinely enjoying enriching their lives in an entertaining way. Always curious about the world, he spent his life in the pursuit of knowledge. His warm and friendly personality was a great asset to him as a volunteer escort for 17 years at Headwaters Health Care Centre. His sense of humour and larger than life laugh brought joy to all those whose lives he touched. Among his many joys were his love of classical music, British humour, wine, tea, cats and golf. He will be greatly missed by all of us who loved him so much.
A heart felt thank you to Dr.Candusso, a palliative care doctor, and the dedicated Bayshore nurses and PSW’s who helped us daily. A special thank you goes to Bethell Hospice for tenderly guiding Richard and his family through such a difficult time. Donations can be made to Bethell hospice or a charity of your choice.
A C’EST LA VIE reception will take place at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, 21 First St., Orangeville on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

A tree will be planted in memory of Richard in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
