Mason, How I wish I told you that just by being alive you changed my life. Before you were born I was at a low point in my life. Your mother, Dawn, was there for me. A couple of months before you were born, she invited me to be present at your birth. Oh to see your mother. She has always been beautiful but Dawn was particularly radiant when pregnant. I teased her as from behind you would never know she had 8lbs of baby in her belly. You were all up front, like a small beach ball (although I recall your mom said you didn't feel small!). I still remember everything from. the day you were born I remember the early morning phone call telling me your mother was having contractions but still 30 minutes apart. I remember thinking that meant there was still lots of time so I made a cup of tea and was heading for the shower. Then your dad called to say contractions were 12 -15 minutes apart. Well, I never did drink that tea or have that shower. I jumped in my car and may have driven faster than the law allows through Hockley, on my way to Orangeville. I arrived at your mother ate a bit of toast. She had called the hospital, virtually across the street, and they told her not to rush...there was still plenty of time. Well, you had other plans. You decided to come faster than expected. We entered the hospital and shortly thereafter you made your presence known. You arrived frontumin anterior - facing up. I like to think of you entering this world facing it full on like the sky was the limit. I didn't even realise my face was wet until your mother called me a "sap." True tears of joy flowed as you took your first breath. Your entrance into this world opened up my heart and was instrumental in helping me heal my own wounds. You helped breathe new life into me. The words, "you have a special place in my heart" sound so trite because you are so much more to me. Of course, my memories are not restricted to the day you were born, however, that day is the one that opened a part of my heart I never knew existed. Having moved overseas, our contact was little the last few years other than a few messages here and there. But I never stopped loving you. I just wish I had shared this story with you while you lived. You knew I was there, but not what your birth, and life, truly meant to me. I love you, Mason. I will never forget you.❤😢 Love, "Aunt" Tam
