Obituary for Huda Scott

Scott, Lily Hudoneil (Huda) (nee Gardiner)
Passed away peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of almost 60 years to Dr. David Scott. Dear mother of Katherine Scott (Robert Frater) of Ottawa, Hugh Scott (Carole Ricard) of Quebec City and Peter Scott of Orangeville. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth, Emma, Charlotte, Harry and Liam. Huda will be greatly missed by her brother Christopher Gardiner of Orangeville and his children, Louise and Rémi (Isabelle), her loving Scott relatives, and many other treasured friends in Orangeville and beyond.
Born to the late Rev. Alan Gardiner and Louise MacMillan, Huda grew up in Victoria, spending many wonderful years there before moving to Ontario in her late teens. Huda trained in Physical and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto, working afterwards at the Toronto Western Hospital where she met her great love, David. In 1962, they moved to Orangeville, had three children, and created a wonderful home for their family and friends.
Huda was passionate about her family and community. For more than 40 years, she volunteered her time and energy with Community Living Dufferin advocating for people with developmental disabilities and helping to build needed supports and services in the county and across Ontario. Her caring spirit, attention to detail, humility and drive always carried her forward and inspired those around her.
We would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Gord Willans and the nurses and PSWs at Headwaters for their extraordinary care and kindness to our mother and to our family’s many friends who supported us over these difficult two months, most especially our mother’s dear friend, Karena Landers.
