Banks, Edward
On December 9, 1925, Edward Banks was given life and on January 5, 2019 it was his time to give it back. Peacefully, with his daughter Angela holding his hand and the caring support workers keeping him comfortable, he moved from this life to be with Joan, his wife of 70 years and family and friends who had gone before. He was the second youngest of eight who will all be waiting for him. His blue eyes will sparkle and his smile will shine brightly as he meets them. Born in Liverpool, England he experienced the war years and was evacuated, with his younger sister "Betty" to a farm, away from their family. Underaged, he signed up to serve in the Royal Navy in September 1943 until February 1947, keeping many painful memories to himself. He moved on to the Merchant Navy and went around the world. He married Joan, had a daughter Angela and in 1960 came to Canada. He was happy working all over Ontario for WIMPEY Construction as a Site Accountant. Memories of Florida, trips to England, the cottage, golf, Lawn bowling, bocce, dogs "Chien" and "Freeway" and fun with people made him smile. Singing and entertaining in Florida at Tree Lakes with Joan was special for them both. He will be missed but fondly remembered by family and friends in Canada, England and the United States.
