My son, Greg and Doug met at Caledon Central Public School and became good friends as kids. Grade 8 Graduation, they looked like Miami Vice Twins. Doug spent a lot of time at my place and my son at his. Doug was a good kid and he was a very funny and optimistic boy even with his challenges as a child....I think it made him stronger. As a teenager, he was your typical lets go have some fun kid and he was fun to be around. During those years, he met the love of his life, Melanie who was and is one of the most wonderful people you could ever meet. They married and had two beautiful children. Doug grew up to be a fantastic loving husband and father, keeping his optimism and humour right up until his passing. He will be greatly missed by a lot of people who's hearts he has touched. We can only be lucky enough to have met him and to have the memories of such a great guy, friend, husband, father, brother, son and to cherish the moments that we had with him. God must have needed you, for him to take you away so soon. You shone brightly on this earth when you were here, you will shine brightly amongst the stars in heaven now and forever. God Bless you and your loved ones.

Dougie there isn't a spot in Birch Cove that you have not travelled. Every spot has a print that will be there forever. Your spirit is definitely in the park. With deepest sympathy we saw goodbye for now but I know that you will be watching over us every step of the way. Until we meet again!
