Obituary for Dirkje VanEsch (Abma)
VanEsch, Dirkje (“Dicky”) nee Abma.
Gone to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her beloved husband Cornelis (“Cor”) whom she so longed to be with again, as well as two infant grandchildren.
Dicky will be missed by her children: Rosalyn VanEsch of Seattle, WA, Howard and Teresa VanEsch of Guelph, Evelyn and Ron Brasz of Aurora and Gwendolyn and Ed Kampen of Orangeville. Dicky also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the Lord Dufferin Retirement Centre for their compassionate care for Dicky since 2014. Sincere appreciation also to the members of various community services and local churches who have provided her with care and visits as she gradually declined in health. Finally we wish to thank our Heavenly Father for the comfort knowing she is safe in His care and relieved of her earthly troubles and sorrows.
A short service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville, on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. with reception to follow from 5:30 until 8:00 pm.
A tree will be planted in memory of Dirkje in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
